Atlanta Amtrak Station to Downtown: Bus, Rail or Car?

From Atlanta’s Peachtree Amtrak station, take MARTA Route 23 toward Arts Center, then a southbound train for Downtown. A taxi, rideshare or prearranged car offers a direct road trip to your hotel instead. The choice depends on the final walk, your bags and the connection available when your train arrives.

Start with the right station. Amtrak’s Peachtree station is at 1688 Peachtree Street NW, in Brookwood between Midtown and Buckhead. It is not Peachtree Center, the MARTA rail station Downtown. Sending a driver to “Peachtree station” without the address risks a very different meeting point.

Use the bus going toward Arts Center

For the Downtown connection, look for Route 23 with Arts Center as its destination. MARTA’s published stop data identifies stop 901586, Peachtree Street NE at Deering Road NW, for that direction. The similar stop 902573 serves the opposite direction toward Buckhead and beyond.

Your transit connection
  1. Route 23 toward Arts Center from the station-area stop.
  2. At Arts Center, change to a southbound Red or Gold Line train.
  3. Leave at the station that suits your hotel, then complete the walk or onward connection.

Use MARTA’s trip planner with the Amtrak address, your hotel’s full address and your expected arrival time. Check the walking directions and stop signs before boarding. Follow marked crossings rather than crossing Peachtree Street just because you can see a bus.

Current Route 23 guidance shows the Amtrak and Arts Center connection. Older instructions may name Route 110. Do not treat an old route number or a system-wide closing time as proof that a useful bus and train connection remains for your arrival.

The bus payment can change your total

MARTA’s standard one-way fare is $2.50 per person, with up to four transfers within three hours. Use exactly the same payment method on the bus and at the rail gates to receive the transfer. A physical bank card and that card in a phone wallet count as different payment methods.

The important exception is cash: paying cash on the bus buys a one-way bus ride with no transfer. For the bus-to-rail trip, use a supported contactless bank card, mobile wallet or loaded Breeze card. Each rider needs their own payment method; one card cannot be passed back for the whole group.

Check MARTA’s fare and transfer rules and payment choices before travel. Tap-to-pay avoids needing to find a machine to buy a Breeze card before boarding the bus.

Choose the hotel entrance, not just “Downtown”

Peachtree Center may suit one property, while another needs a different station or another train. Check the final walking route with your bags, not just the rail journey.

For example, Omni Atlanta Hotel at Centennial Park places the Amtrak station about 3.5 miles from its hotel. That is a reference for this property, not every Downtown hotel. Its nearby rail stop is SEC District, formerly GWCC/CNN Center, on the Blue and Green lines. From Arts Center, that means southbound rail to Five Points and a westbound connection.

If you need a step-free journey, confirm station assistance with Amtrak and check the bus-stop approach, MARTA elevators and hotel entrance separately. Amtrak recommends requesting specific assistance when reserving. An accessible platform does not establish that the entire sidewalk-to-hotel trip will work for you.

A direct car removes the transit changes

A taxi or rideshare lets you compare a direct ride after arrival. Use the pickup point shown in the app or agreed with the driver; do not assume that a vehicle can wait beside the platform. Compare the price for the vehicle that fits your passengers and bags.

For a prearranged ride, agree on a station meeting point and how to handle a changed train arrival. Ask when any waiting charge starts. Do not assume an airport flight-tracking policy also covers train arrivals or includes free waiting at Amtrak.

For business guests, make the hotel stop explicit if bags must be dropped before a meeting. If someone else arranges the ride, the passenger also needs the meeting instructions and contact number. Our black car quote guide explains how to compare the full price rather than only the base fare.

Request a station-to-hotel ride

Ask ATL Limo about a private black car transfer from Peachtree Amtrak station to your hotel. Include the train arrival and hotel address so we can confirm the trip and meeting arrangement.
