An Atlanta-to-Columbus trip can begin at a downtown bus stop, an ATL Airport shuttle stall or your own front door. Those are three different departure systems. A low ticket price may not help if you start at the wrong terminal, miss the last-mile ride or arrive far from the final address.
Use this guide as a switchboard. Pick your real starting point first. Then connect it to the exact Columbus hotel, office, home or military-post destination. This keeps the trip practical without treating every Atlanta pickup as the same journey.
Start here: where are you leaving from?
- Downtown Atlanta: compare the correct intercity bus stop with a direct drive.
- ATL Airport: compare the regional shuttle pickup with a private airport-to-address transfer.
- Home or office: count the ride to a terminal—or remove that handoff with door-to-door service.
If you start in Downtown Atlanta
Greyhound currently lists several Atlanta boarding points for its Columbus route. They include the Atlanta Bus Station at 232 Forsyth Street, the Civic Center stop at 435 West Peachtree Street NW and an ATL Airport stop at 6000 North Terminal Drive. Your ticket controls the boarding point. “Atlanta” alone is not enough.
The current route page lists three daily trips, a fastest scheduled ride near 1 hour 55 minutes and tickets from $20.48 per person. That starting fare can change by date. It does not include the trip to the Atlanta stop or the ride from the Columbus stop to your final address.
The Columbus bus stop is a handoff, not the finish
Greyhound lists the Columbus stop at the Sunoco station, 4108 St. Marys Road. Before buying the ticket, map that address to the hotel, office, campus or home you actually need. Confirm the local ride for the expected arrival time and leave room for a late bus.
If you start at ATL Airport
A regional shuttle can make sense when the flight and shuttle schedule line up. ATL places Groome regional-shuttle pickup in the Domestic Ground Transportation Center at stalls B9 and B10. Travelers arriving internationally should confirm the terminal transfer and pickup process with the provider before travel because international shared-ride service is limited.
Groome’s Columbus page currently shows online fares from $59 per passenger for its Columbus office and the destination it labels Fort Moore, and from $69 for listed downtown hotels. It also states that a $2 per-passenger fuel surcharge has applied since May 5, 2026 and is included at checkout. Treat these as starting fares, not a fixed total for every date or stop.
Match the shuttle stop to the real destination
- Columbus office: plan the ride from the shuttle office to the final street address.
- Downtown hotel: confirm that the hotel is on the dated booking and that the arrival hour works.
- Military post: use the exact destination name and address shown in the current reservation system. Confirm visitor access separately with the host or official installation source.
If you start at a home or office
A scheduled bus or shuttle adds an Atlanta-side ride before the intercity trip. Count that cost, loading time and transfer risk. A traveler in Buckhead, Alpharetta or another suburb may spend more time reaching the departure point than a traveler already downtown.
A reserved long-distance car service can start at the actual pickup address and end at the final Columbus address. That can help when several people leave together, equipment must stay with the group or the appointment cannot absorb a missed connection. The quote should still state whether the trip is one-way, round-trip or waiting service.
Plan the Columbus last mile before leaving Atlanta
METRA provides local bus and paratransit service in Columbus. Its official site publishes customer-service and schedule-information contacts, but the current page reviewed for this guide did not provide a clear route-and-fare match for every intercity arrival. Check the dated local plan directly instead of assuming a bus will meet the coach or shuttle.
For a hotel or meeting, save the full street address—not only the property or company name. For a military-post destination, the transportation booking does not replace visitor clearance. Ask the host which entrance and current access steps apply, and avoid promising a gate pickup until those details are confirmed.
A quick choice by trip shape
Choose the intercity bus when one or two travelers can reach the correct Atlanta stop and have a confirmed ride from St. Marys Road. Choose the airport shuttle when the flight, B9–B10 pickup and listed Columbus stop form a workable chain. Choose a private vehicle when the group needs one pickup, one final address or control over the departure time.
For a group, compare the whole trip. Add each per-person ticket, the Atlanta-side ride, the Columbus last mile and any charges shown at checkout. Private transportation is usually quoted per vehicle. We did not publish a private-market range because two current, comparable all-in quotes for the same route and vehicle were not available.
Build the return as a separate trip
The outbound choice may not work in reverse. A meeting can end after a useful bus or shuttle departure. An ATL flight adds airport check-in and security time after the Columbus-to-Atlanta ride. Check the return schedule before buying the outbound ticket.
If the return ends at ATL, work backward from the airline’s recommended arrival time. The ATL Airport group departure guide explains that method. For another Georgia city with two terminal handoffs, see the Atlanta-to-Macon guide.
Request an Atlanta-to-Columbus quote
Send the exact Atlanta pickup, Columbus destination, required arrival time, date, passenger count, luggage and return plan. ATL Limo can quote the real addresses instead of treating the city pair as one fixed trip.
