Airport travel · Delayed baggage

Report a missing checked bag to your airline and agree how you will receive it before leaving ATL. Keep your ride provider informed while you arrange this. If you are continuing to an out-of-town home or hotel, confirm that exact delivery address before starting the road journey.
Ask the airline what it knows about the bag, what happens next and which details it needs from you.
Get the report reference before you leave
Start with your airline’s baggage service. Delta’s delayed-baggage guidance directs passengers to its Baggage Service Office to make a report and save the reference. For bags recovered within five days, Delta says it uses the delivery information in that report.
The reporting route depends on the airline. American’s instructions allow mobile reporting for eligible arrivals and tell passengers to report missing bags before leaving the airport. Follow your carrier’s current process and keep its confirmation.
Save the bag tag and report reference where you can reach them during the car journey. A tracking screen may help you discuss the bag’s location, but it does not confirm that someone can release it to you or when delivery will happen.
Give the airline an address that will still work
Tell the airline where you will be staying, including the full address, the name on the stay and a reachable phone number. If you are leaving the Atlanta area, say so. Ask whether delivery can reach that address and what you need to do if your location changes.
For a hotel, confirm with the property whether staff can accept the bag while you are out. Tell the airline when you expect to leave that hotel. If the recovery estimate extends beyond your stay, ask how to update the destination.
These details help you avoid arranging an airport collection trip before checking whether delivery is available.
Decide whether to wait or continue
Give the ride provider the update you actually have: you are filing a report, waiting for an airline answer or ready to leave. Ask what waiting or rescheduling would mean for your reservation. Flight tracking does not tell the chauffeur when your baggage discussion has finished.
If the airline expects the bag soon, ask whether it recommends staying. If there is no confirmed recovery time, discuss the delivery plan before deciding to continue. No single waiting period fits every case.
Use the ATL chauffeur meeting guide when you are ready to leave. Confirm the meeting point before asking the car to approach the loading area.
Check collection arrangements before a return trip
If you decide to collect the bag later, first confirm that it is ready for release, where to collect it and what identification is required. Ask about authorization if someone else would collect it. A passenger car booking does not establish permission to collect another person’s baggage.
Ask the airline how it handles any related expense claim and keep receipts. Do not assume that extra waiting, a replacement ride or a return trip will be reimbursed.
