How to Get from Atlanta to Chattanooga: Shuttle, Drive or Private Car

The main difference is not just travel time. The airport shuttle is priced per passenger and ends at a fixed stop outside Downtown Chattanooga. A private car is quoted per trip and can connect the addresses you choose. Work out the first and last part of the journey before comparing prices.

A $59 shuttle seat and a private vehicle quote are not equal products. For a fair comparison, add the ride to the airport or shuttle stop, the onward ride in Chattanooga, and every passenger in the group.

Using the shared shuttle from ATL Airport

Groome Transportation currently advertises Chattanooga–ATL service from $59 per adult each way with its online discount. Its standard adult fare starts at $67. These are starting fares per passenger, so check your date and departure before relying on the total.

The Chattanooga-area stop is Groome Transportation at 5712 Ringgold Road, East Ridge, Tennessee 37412. It is not a Downtown Chattanooga hotel or attraction. If your trip ends at the convention center, Tennessee Aquarium, a downtown hotel, Lookout Mountain or a private address, price and plan that final ride separately.

Starting in Atlanta rather than at ATL? Include the time and cost to travel south to the airport. A scheduled airport shuttle can lose its price advantage when your starting address and final destination are both far from its stops.

Reserve the correct direction and read the confirmation for check-in instructions. The operator lists multiple daily round trips, but your travel date controls the departures available.

Driving or booking a private car

The usual road route runs north from Atlanta on I-75 toward Chattanooga. Live traffic, the exact Atlanta pickup and the Tennessee destination can change the trip, so use a current map close to departure instead of treating one published drive time as a promise.

Self-driving works well when you also need a car around Chattanooga. Before leaving, check parking at the hotel or venue and decide who will drive back. A same-day business trip or event return can make the second drive harder than the outbound trip.

With long-distance car service from Atlanta, you can request transportation from an Atlanta home, office, hotel or ATL Airport to the specific Chattanooga address. Send the passenger count, luggage, planned stops, required arrival time and return plan with the quote request.

For a group, compare the full per-vehicle quote with all shuttle seats plus first-mile and last-mile rides. If you are still choosing a vehicle, the sedan, SUV and Sprinter luggage guide explains why passenger and bag counts should be considered together.

Plan the Chattanooga arrival before leaving Atlanta

Downtown Chattanooga has a free electric shuttle between the Chattanooga Choo Choo area and the Tennessee Aquarium, with stops along the downtown corridor. That can help once you are downtown, but it does not turn the Groome stop in East Ridge into a downtown arrival.

Use the complete street address for your hotel, event or meeting. Ask the property which entrance vehicles should use, especially for a convention, arena event or hotel with a separate loading area. For Lookout Mountain attractions or addresses outside downtown, plan a separate vehicle rather than assuming the downtown shuttle reaches them.

If your destination is an appointment, plan to arrive at the building—not merely inside the city—before the required time. Add unloading, walking and check-in time.

Plan Chattanooga to Atlanta at the same time

Check the return before buying the outbound shuttle. A late event, delayed meeting or hotel checkout may not match the departure you want. Confirm the Chattanooga boarding point and whether the Atlanta arrival is at the airport or another stop shown on the reservation.

For private transportation, decide whether you need a same-day round trip, a later pickup or separate one-way trips. If the return time may change, say that in the quote request so the schedule can be evaluated correctly.
