How to Get from Atlanta Airport to Buckhead: MARTA, Taxi or Private Car

Atlanta Airport Arrival Guide

Buckhead is a large district, not one address. Buckhead Station can be convenient for offices and hotels near Peachtree Road, but a hotel in another part of Buckhead may still require a walk, bus or second ride. Compare the complete trip from baggage claim to the actual entrance.

Fares, station information and airport pickup locations were checked September 27, 2026. Confirm current service alerts and prices before travel.

MARTA, taxi or private car: what changes?

OptionCurrent price basisBest fitPlan for
MARTA rail$2.50 per person, one wayTravelers near Buckhead Station with manageable luggageThe correct train, possible late transfer and the walk from the station
Airport taxi$49.50 for one person to the Buckhead flat-fare zone; $2 each additional passengerTravelers who want a curb pickup without reserving aheadOfficial pickup area, possible fuel surcharge and exact destination
Private carTrip-specific per-vehicle quotePlanned pickups, exact hotel entrances, groups and more luggageFlight, terminal, passenger, bag and destination details

MARTA and taxi prices are published on different bases: MARTA charges each rider, while the airport lists its Buckhead taxi rate for one passenger and adds a charge for each additional passenger. A private-car quote is based on the trip and vehicle. Compare the total for everyone traveling.

Taking MARTA from ATL Airport to Buckhead

Airport Station is at the west end of the Domestic Terminal, between the North and South baggage-claim areas. From the International Terminal, use the free airport shuttle to reach the Domestic Terminal and MARTA station.

Buckhead Station is on the Red Line. When a Red Line train marked North Springs is available, it travels directly from Airport Station to Buckhead. If only a Gold Line train marked Doraville is operating, MARTA says Buckhead passengers may need to change to a Red Line train at Lindbergh Center, especially after rush hour.

The current Red Line timetable shows scheduled airport-to-Buckhead rail time of roughly 30–35 minutes on many trips. Add the time needed to collect luggage, reach the station, wait for the train and walk from Buckhead Station.

Do not board by color alone. Read the destination sign. North Springs is the Red Line destination for Buckhead; Doraville is the Gold Line and may require a transfer at Lindbergh Center.

Where to find an airport taxi

At the Domestic Terminal, taxis use Aisle A, stalls A3–A10, in ATL’s Ground Transportation Center. At the International Terminal, the taxi area is on the arrivals level outside door A-1.

ATL currently lists a Buckhead flat fare of $49.50 for one passenger, including the $1.50 airport surcharge, plus $2 for each additional passenger. The airport also publishes possible fuel surcharges tied to gasoline prices, so confirm the total before departure.

Give the driver the street address rather than only saying “Buckhead.” The district includes hotels, homes, shopping areas and offices that are not all beside Buckhead Station or one another.

When a private car solves the harder parts

A prebooked ATL airport car service can connect the airport with the exact hotel, office, residence or meeting entrance. This can be helpful when a host is arranging transportation for someone else, several people must stay together, or luggage makes a station transfer awkward.

Send the flight number, airline, passenger phone number, passenger count, luggage and complete Buckhead destination when requesting the trip. If you are arranging the ride for a guest, use the airport pickup host checklist to avoid contact and terminal confusion.

For pickup-location details, read the guide to meeting a prebooked chauffeur at ATL. Keep the quote action separate from the online reservation process so you can first confirm the trip requirements.

Check the distance from Buckhead Station to the final door

A station name can make the rail trip look complete when it is not. Put the hotel or office address into a walking map before choosing MARTA. Check distance, hills, weather, luggage and whether the entrance faces the street you expect.

If the destination is far from Buckhead Station, compare a second ride from the station with a direct airport taxi or private car. Changing vehicles can remove much of rail’s price advantage for a group.

For a destination south of Buckhead, the Atlanta Airport-to-Downtown guide explains the different stops, fares and arrival choices.
