Atlanta Convention Travel Guide
The Georgia World Congress Center has Buildings A, B and C across a large downtown campus. Someone who arrives at the wrong side may face a long walk with luggage, exhibit material or work equipment. The useful question is not simply “How do I get to GWCC?” It is “Which station or curb is closest to my event?”
Routes and campus access details were checked September 27, 2026. Recheck MARTA alerts and the event’s final attendee instructions before travel.
MARTA or private car: compare the complete trip
| Option | Price basis | Best fit | Main planning issue |
|---|---|---|---|
| MARTA rail | $2.50 per person, one way, including transfers | Travelers with manageable bags and an event near a rail-accessible entrance | Transfer at Five Points, then walk from SEC District or Vine City |
| Private car | Trip-specific per-vehicle quote | Groups, exhibit materials, planned pickups or direct building access | Confirm the flight, passenger count, luggage, building and curb |
| Rental or self-drive | Rental, fuel and event parking | Travelers who also need a vehicle elsewhere | Downtown traffic, reserved parking and the correct deck or lot |
MARTA charges each rider. A private-car quote covers the chosen vehicle and trip. For a group, compare all rail fares and the walk or onward ride with one vehicle quote. If several people arrive on different flights, it may be better to use pickup waves rather than make the first arrivals wait.
Taking MARTA from ATL Airport to GWCC
Airport Station is at the Domestic Terminal between North and South baggage claim. International passengers can use the airport’s free terminal shuttle to reach the Domestic Terminal and MARTA.
Take a northbound Red or Gold Line train from Airport Station to Five Points. At Five Points, transfer to a westbound Blue or Green Line train. SEC District Station is the next stop. MARTA renamed the former GWCC/CNN Center station to Sports, Entertainment and Convention District Station, so older event material may show the previous name.
GWCC’s official guidance uses SEC District Station for Buildings A and B. Building C can be reached from SEC District or Vine City. Check the event hall before leaving ATL so you do not choose a station from the venue name alone.
Match the vehicle drop-off to Building A, B or C
GWCC’s official address is 285 Andrew Young International Boulevard NW, but that address does not identify the best entrance for every event.
For Buildings A and B and International Plaza, GWCC directs pickups and drop-offs to Andrew Young International Boulevard. Building A access is between the Omni Hotel and the College Football Hall of Fame. Building B entrances line the Pedestrian Mall.
For Building C, GWCC directs pickups and drop-offs to GWCC Bus Lane C on Northside Drive. Sending a driver only the main address may put the group on the wrong side of the campus.
If driving, the center’s airport directions use I-75/I-85 North and Exit 248C for Andrew Young International Boulevard. GWCC warns that downtown traffic can become heavy when convention and stadium events overlap.
Planning an airport arrival for a convention group
Start with the event document, not the general venue address. Record the building, hall, registration location and hotel. Then group travelers by flight arrival and by the place they actually need to reach first.
A team going straight to registration may need a different drop-off from coworkers who must check into a hotel first. Exhibit cases and large bags may also change the vehicle choice. Use our guide for teams arriving at ATL on different flights to decide whether one departure or several pickup waves make more sense.
For planned corporate transportation, Executive Limo service can be quoted using the flight list, group size, luggage, hotel and GWCC building. An assistant can organize those details with the client transportation trip brief.
Plan the trip back before the event ends
Convention dismissal can place many attendees on the same curb at once. Use the same building-specific pickup area for the return and give each traveler the written location. “Outside GWCC” is too vague.
If the group is leaving for ATL, build the departure around the airline terminal and recommended airport arrival time. If people are returning to different hotels, decide whether one shared route still makes sense or whether separate vehicles would prevent long detours.
Travelers staying downtown can compare hotel and rail choices in the ATL Airport-to-Downtown guide.
